Internet usage restrictions

Information and business awareness

All Internet users are required to refrain from publishing or accessing information containing any of the following:
  • Everything that violates principles and the law, or jeopardizes Islam’s holiness and its tolerant law, or offends public morals.
  • Everything that runs counter to the state and its system.
  • Reports and news affecting the safety of the Libyan state are prohibited unless approved by the competent authorities.
  • Unless approved by the competent authorities, the state’s regulations, agreements, treaties, or official statements must be published before they are officially announced.
  • Everything that jeopardizes the dignity of the leaders of state or heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Libya, as well as anything that jeopardizes relations with those countries.
  • All false news attributed to state officials, public or private institutions or local bodies, or individuals, harms them or their entities, or diminishes their dignity.
  • Advocating destructive principles, undermining public peace, or sowing discord among citizens.
  • Everything that encourages, calls for, or incites crime against others in any form.
  • Anything involving slander or defamation of individuals
Certain commercial instructions stipulate that all companies, institutions, and individuals who use the service must follow the following guidelines:
  • Not to engage in any commercial activity via the network, such as selling, advertising, or recruiting, unless authorized by valid licenses or commercial registries.
  • Except for those with the necessary licenses, no one may engage in financial investment activities or offer shares for subscription.
  • Do not promote or sell medicines, food products with medical claims, or cosmetics unless they are registered and authorized by the appropriate authorities.
  • Except for holders of the necessary licenses, no one may advertise, promote, or sell materials subject to other international agreements to which the state is a party.
  • عدم الإعلان عن المعارض التجارية أو تنظيم زيارة الوفود التجارية أو الرحالات السياحية أو الأدلة التجارية إلا بموجب التراخيص اللازمة لذلك.

Take advantage of the service

  • To maintain commercial and informational awareness.
  • Commitment to using the Internet connection point(s) correctly.
  • Respecting the privacy of information transmitted over the Internet as a result of transactions between various parties both inside and outside Libya.
  • Respect local and international copyrights and intellectual patents, and seek permission from the publisher before browsing or copying.
  • Do not use email to exchange information that is contrary to true religion or national regulations.
  • When downloading any programme from the Internet, take the necessary precautions to ensure that it is virus-free as much as possible.
  • Be aware of the penalties that will be imposed on the user if he deliberately engages in any action that is contrary to true religion and national regulations.
  • Figuring the importance of family monitoring of young children and adolescents who use the Internet.
